Cornelis-Pietersz Bega

A Dutch painter, etcher and draughtsman, Bega was born in 1631 in Haarlem. His father was a renowned Mannerist artist. Bega studied with Adriaen van Ostade before joining Vincent Laurentsz van der Vinne in Frankfurt for a journey through Germany, France and Switzerland. In 1654, he returned to Haarlem and joined the Guild of St. Luke, where he became a competent draughtsman, which is indicated by his first dated work, "Interior with a Nursing Mother".
